4th Microsys Meets with Great Interest

World-class advisory committee is assembled in order to assure technically demanding alignment of the MICROSYS trade fair for micro and nano-technology in R&D, production and applications engineering.

Micro-mechanics, micro injection moulding, microelectronics, micro-optics, microsystems technology – as an integral platform, the Microsys trade fair is focussed on the world of manufacturing and applications in the field of micro and nano-technology with a practical approach. And in this sense it differs essentially from other events covering the areas of micro and/or nano.-technology, which are frequently much too theoretical and thus unable to mediate between research and actual industrial application. With the “relaunch” of the now 4th Microsys, which will take place concurrent to the MOTEK international trade fair for assembly and handling technology from 13 through 16 September 2010, numerous R&D, production and equipment companies, as well as their suppliers, are placing hope in new markets, which was plainly apparent based on feedback from the industry in response to an initial canvassing letter.

Micro and Nano-Technology – the Great White Hope

One could easily come to the conclusion that industry players have been waiting for an integral platform of this sort, which deals exclusively, and in an interdisciplinary fashion, with all of the relevant processes and process steps. A further, very positive sign is the structure of the Microsys advisory committee, whose ranks were recently joined by Eckehardt Keip, chairman of Mikrosystemtechnik e. V. Baden-Württemberg and MicroTec Südwest – winner of the Leading Edge Cluster Competition. The Microsys advisory committee includes the following members as well: Uwe Remer (2e mechatronic GmbH & Co. KG), Prof. Dr. Heinz Kück (HSG-IMAT), Frank Neumann (Institut für Mikrotechnik Mainz GmbH), Thomas Schaller (Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT)), Dr. Thomas Link (MicroMountains Applications AG), which means that top researchers, institutions, associations and industrial users are getting together and making a strong contribution to the success of Microsys with the help of their expertise. Within this context it’s interesting to note that for several years now a microsystems technology theme park has been promoted at the world’s leading trade fair for assembly and handling technology, and automation, namely MOTEK, which is consistently showered with international attention.

Recognised Foundation: MOTEK Theme Park for Microsystems Technology

This field of technology is now being seamlessly integrated into the 4th MICROSYS trade fair for micro and nano-technology in R&D, production and applications engineering, which provides relevant exhibitors with the advantage of being able to act within their own target-group setting and expand their market positions. It’s also interesting to note that above all companies with a “polytechnical” alignment are highly interested in Microsys, because here they have the opportunity of presenting their own specific range of expertise, and establishing contact with their target groups faster than anywhere else, and with nearly zero wasted coverage. After all, the possible fields of application for micro and nano-technology are very broad-based on the one hand, and on the other hand vast numbers of these applications are included in all of the equipment, devices and function modules necessary for daily life and routine work, without anyone being aware of it.

Microsys – MOTEK – BONDexpo = Process Sequence Synergies

In this spirit, the immediate proximity and simultaneous promotion of the 4th Microsys, the 29th MOTEK and the 4th BONDexpo trade fair for industrial bonding technology represent a truly successful symbiosis, within which the process sequences for the production and application of micro and nano-technical products can be convincingly presented.
