MICROSYS: more than just microsystems technology and ultra-precision manufacturing
Frickenhausen, 20 July 2005 – Things started in 2004 with a more than respectable critical success followed by further establishment in 2005 with twice as many exhibitors and booth floor space, and in 2006 the event will evolve into the international industry meeting place for microsystems technology. As the world’s only technical event of its kind, the MICROSYS international trade fair for microsystems technology and ultra-precision manufacturing unites all relevant topics for a multitude of industries! And it’s attributed special status for this reason because other trade fairs with “polytechnic” character – i.e. sprawling events with no clearly defined nomenclature – take advantage of only one allegedly lucrative sector and otherwise leave expert visitors hanging. But they’ll never do justice to the great demand for information regarding the hardware and software process sequence for the implementation of microsystems technology in this way. Particularly in consideration of the fact that microsystems technology, ultra-precision manufacturing, micro injection moulding, micro-assembly and micro test technology complement each other, and actual synergies exist as well, i.e. they don’t have to be sought out or invented.
MICROSYS is highly consistent in this respect and successively adapts its nomenclature to demands originating from research and industry. As a result, MICROSYS 2006 will intensify its commitment in the fields of micro and nanotechnology for use in the automotive industry. In particular the automobile manufacturers and their R&D partners are predestined for microelectronic solutions, because the ability to combine growing demands for comfort and automation, as well as miniaturisation of components and subsystems, would be inconceivable without microsystems technology for mechanical, mechatronic and electronic assemblies. Due to an expanded range of offerings and information – as demanded by expert visitors and exhibitors – MICROSYS 2006 will occupy its own pavilion at the Sinsheim Exhibition Centre. Full utilisation of pavilion 5 has been planned for, so that the process sequence for microsystems technology can be presented with all of its aspects in a comprehensive fashion.
40% of all exhibitors presented worldwide innovations to expert visitors for the first time at the 2nd MICROSYS in Sinsheim, a figure which will more than likely be exceeded at the 3rd MICROSYS, which will once again take place at the Sinsheim Exhibition Centre from 9th through the 12th of May, 2006, concurrent with CONTROL. Because private trade fair promoter Paul E. Schall will yet again live up to his
philosophy of “trade fairs for markets and the development of new markets” by emphatically investing in the expansion of the billion dollar market for microsystems technology. According to a survey conducted by a leading industry journal, 38% of all future growth impetus will be generated by microsystems technology, and 68% by nanotechnology, and only 28% each will be generated by information technology and bioengineering. As a logical consequence, great importance will be placed upon MICROSYS as the only interdisciplinary communication and procurement platform for microsystems and nanotechnology, bringing a wide range of expert visitors together from the fields of research and industry and generating long-lasting good business conditions based upon a competitive advantage.
Statement Issued by the Schall Group of Companies
With the successive series of technical trade fairs offered by private trade fair promoter P. E. Schall GmbH, as well as public exhibitions promoted by a further member of the Schall group, namely Messe Sinsheim GmbH, both companies stay in close touch with continuously changing markets. According to a recent survey conducted by AUMA (Association of the German Trade Fair Industry), the percentage of foreign exhibitors who participated at the 154 supraregional trade fairs registered in the year 2004 increased by 2.5% to a total of roughly 53%. As opposed to this, German participation dropped by 4% during the same time period, and by at total of more than 5000 exhibitors in the last 5 years. Beyond this, the number of (expert) foreign exhibitors has been on the rise for years, which documents increasing significance for German trade fairs within the globalised economy. These changing conditions are accompanied by requirements for increasing booth floor space on the part of all exhibitors who, together with the visitors, are also demanding infrastructures which are in keeping with expanding internationality. As a recognised trade fair service provider, P. E. Schall GmbH is no longer able to escape these practical necessities. For this reason, MICROSYS will no longer take place in Sinsheim as of the year 2008, but rather at the new Stuttgart Exhibition Centre. The event will be promoted in Sinsheim until this time, in the economically strong region of southern Germany, the Schall group’s most important venue for technical trade fairs and public exhibitions, which will guarantee the accustomed levels of quality now and in the future for all of the events promoted under its guidance.
